For Whitsunday homeowners working with smaller blocks, sloping sites or established outdoor areas, a swim spa can also offer greater flexibility than a conventional swimming pool.
Australian Made Swim Spas
Sapphire Swim Spas are designed and manufactured at our Victorian manufacturing facility and are available in a range of sizes and configurations.
Depending on the model you choose, your swim spa can provide space for:
- Swimming and resistance training
- Aquatic exercise
- Family recreation
- Hydrotherapy and recovery
- Relaxation and entertaining
- Year-round enjoyment
What is a Swim Spa?
A swim spa is exactly what it sounds like - a single backyard feature that gives you the ability to swim and exercise in one end, and relax in heated spa seating in the other. It's a genuinely versatile product that bridges the gap between a traditional swimming pool and a hot tub, without requiring the space or installation commitment of either.
Sapphire swim spas are used by individuals who swim for fitness, families who want a pool alternative that works year-round, and anyone looking for a hydrotherapy solution that goes beyond what a standard spa can offer. The swim jet systems create a continuous current strong enough for genuine resistance swimming, lap training, and aquatic exercise - all within a compact footprint.
For Australian homeowners who want the experience of a pool without the excavation, the ongoing chemical costs, or the space requirements, a swim spa is increasingly the practical choice. Sapphire's range is designed and built in Australia, giving you a product made specifically for local conditions and local backyards.

Swim spa or swimming pool?
For many Whitsunday homeowners, this is one of the first questions to consider.
A traditional pool can be a great option where there is plenty of space, but a swim spa provides a different type of experience.
Its compact footprint can make it easier to incorporate into existing backyards, decks and landscaped areas, while the self-contained design means there is no need for the scale of excavation associated with many traditional pools.
A swim spa also gives you the ability to control the water temperature, opening up opportunities for swimming, exercise and relaxation throughout more of the year.
The right choice will depend on your property, available space and how you want to use the water.
Our local team can help you explore the options before you make that decision.
Designed and made in Australia
When you're investing in a spa or swim spa, it helps to know who actually makes it.
Sapphire Spas has been manufacturing spas and swim spas in Australia since 2003.
Our spas are manufactured in Victoria and designed with Australian homes and conditions in mind, with local manufacturing backed by an Australia-wide retailer and support network.
That also means access to local knowledge, replacement parts, service and warranty support long after your spa arrives.
Planning your spa or swim spa installation in the Whitsundays
Every backyard is different.
Before choosing a spa or swim spa, it's worth considering where it will sit, how it will be delivered and how it will integrate with your outdoor area.
Things to consider include:
- Access to your property
- The proposed spa location
- Concrete slab or structural base requirements
- Deck or partially recessed installations
- Electrical requirements
- Drainage
- Spa safety barriers
- Crane access where required
- Landscaping and surrounding outdoor areas
Getting these details right early can make the entire process much easier.
If you're unsure whether a particular spa or swim spa will work at your property, talk to Mackay Spa Shed about your proposed installation and the options available for your site.
